Saturday 11th March saw Wilmslow scorpions take to the pool for the second year participating in British Long Distance Swimming Association distance swim. The distance swim has two different time categories: a 30 minute swim and 1 hour swim; swimmers need to swim as far as they can within the time. With our coaches Pete and Graham poolside and an army of parent helpers we had 44 swimmers take to the water. This year we had 15 swimmers take to the pool in the 30  minute swim and 39 swimmers, including 4 of our masters swimmers in the 1 hour session.

Over the sessions we saw some brilliant swimming of all our swimmers; they showed real determination to keep going, with everyone who swam achieving some great distances.

For the 1 hour swim our top swimmers in each age category were 14/15- Thomas Alexander and Ellie Finch; 12/13- Ewan Fildes and Carina Daw; 10/11- Ada Byrne and Mitchell Stokey and Under 10’s Isla Bell and Coby Fell

In the 30 minute swim our top swimmers in the 10/11- George Seaman and Erica Corti and 10 and under-Thomas Ford and Charlotte Rucklidge.

The results are now sent to BLDSA where they are added to the results of all the other swimmers who have competed in the event from across the country, and they produce a results table after the closing date. Once all the entries have been processed by BLDSA the swimmers will received a cloth badge and certificate.

Well done to all our swimmers and thank you to our coaches Pete and Graham and all those that volunteered to help at the event.
