HEAD COACH WELCOME
24 Apr 2022
We are very pleased to announce that Simon Clapham has been offered and has accepted the role of Head Coach at Wilmslow Scorpions!
Simon had been part of our coaching team for 23 years, most recently as Senior coach. Simon has shown that he is a very keen and skilled coach capable of bringing out the best in all swimmers across the club. He has been responsible for the selection of the Peaks and Plains teams for several years. This year Scorpions won both the Peaks and Plains galas.
You may also have seen him poolside supporting our younger swimmers at Sputniks in their first external gala experience and at this year’s Satellites Spring Meet coaching many Scorpions swimmers at their first licensed meet.
A few words from Simon,
“I believe that the current Squad swimmers are training better than any group that we have had for maybe 10 yrs; I really want to build on this momentum and move forward. I hope that we can all make Scorpions a team to be reckoned with.”
We look forward to working with Simon and the rest of the coaching team to continue to develop and grow the club.
Please join us in welcoming and congratulating Simon as Head Coach!

Club Championships Results 2023
Scorpions did it! We are overall joint champions, Joint Junior champions and runner up in the seniors.
The fourth and final round took place on Saturday 17th June.
Don't forget to sign up for the Club Championships. Closing date is Friday 16th June.
Round 2 took place on Saturday 22nd April, 28 swimmers attended the gala with our coaches Pete and Graham. Yet again we saw some fantastic swimming, everyone competing did scorpions proud. Sputniks round 1 consisted of breaststroke and freestyle, which means round 2 was backstroke and butterfly along with another IM.
The 2022/23 season of the peaks and plains swimming league has now come to an end, with Wilmslow scorpions finishing in second place. An amazing performance off all our swimmers guided by our head coach Simon and coach Steph.
Saturday 18 March 2023 saw a team of 43 swimmers and our coaches Pete and Graham travel to Macclesfield Leisure Centre to compete in round 1 of Sputniks. We saw some fantastic swimming, for many of our swimmers competing it was their first away gala. Everyone competing did scorpions proud.
Saturday 11th March saw Wilmslow scorpions take to the pool for the second year participating in British Long Distance Swimming Association distance swim.
Good luck to our swimmers going to Macclesfield this weekend to swim in the Cheshire County Championships 2023. Delighted that we have 5 swimmers who qualified and are representing Wilmslow Scorpions as well as a few dual club swimmers.
